Alcohol

Alcohol

Sprays of alcohol, or alcohol dabbed onto insects, is well known as a useful control of mealybugs. However, using alcohol on plants may cause injuries such as leaf burn. Carefully test a small part of the plant if you attempt to use this method.

Alcohol is effective at killing spidermites and eggs however I would never cross the 50% alcohol/50% water ratio.

My results were very good for the younger vegitative state, no burns, I covered the soil so I didnt get any alcohol absorbed by the roots.

Unfortunately, when I used this same ratio for my bloom phase mite problem, it killed my flowers. Yes, turned a dry dark reddish brown color and shriveled up.

I would not risk treating plants in bloom cycle with this method unless you did your own experimenting by only leaving the mixture on for a few minutes then wash off immediately with fresh water. I have not had the time to try that yet. It could still kill the flowers.

Alcohol works best when sprayed from an atomizer. You can spray 91% Isopropyl Alcohol, (rubbing alcohol) directly on buds if useing an atomizer. The alcohol kills the bugs, good and bad but kills the dreded spidermites, not all of them but most of them if you stay after it it can be controlled. Alcohol keeps the little bastards from webbing and can get you through to harvest where you will lose 90% of the damage in manicure. I use high air pressure with a blow nozzel to keep the dead leaf from accumulating and it helps to get dead SM and the shit they leave behind, off your precious bud!

Alcohol ? Works great to keep infestations from getting worse on flowers and almost finished bud
